Geelbek Wedding – Karl and Nele – Churchaven – Westcoast National Park

Karl and Nele had their wedding in the remote and beautiful West Coast National Park in Laangebaan.  I have shot there many times before, and really love being able to work on the West Coast.  Its just so different from the rest of the Cape….rugged, quite, wild and beutiful.

The ceremony was held at Churchaven and the reception at Geelbek.

During the day of the wedding and while chatting it turned out that Karl went to Jeppe Boys High School at the same time that I did.  That for me is pretty crazy and gives me a “the world is so small feeling”, but maybe not now that we are all in South Africa.  I attended Jeppe Boys for Standard 6, but thereafter moved to Canada and finished high school there.

Nele is from Germany and now lives in Cape Town and has done so for the last few years.  The wedding was very much a mixture of South Africa and Germany, as many of the guests flew down here for the event.  The speeches were in German and English, so I could only nod and laugh, half the time….as “Ek kan nie Duits praat nie” or any other language for that matter – only the normal run of the mill swear words that they teach you …  I admit it. :(
